That being said, one can’t deny that any moment featuring a fused character is genuinely quite exciting in Dragon Ball. Viewers witness their wildest fantasies come to life as two beloved characters fuse their very beings to become an all-powerful fighter who can bring the best of two worlds together while fighting a massive threat. Keeping this in mind, here are some of the most powerful fusions to ever make an appearance in Dragon Ball.

Updated on December 27, 2022, by Ritwik Mitra: Dragon Ball is one of the most popular shows of all time, featuring a wealth of power-ups and transformations that are a blast to witness. The characters of this anime have become some of the most popular figures of pop culture, especially with all the various ways they attain power in the series. One powerful way fighters in Dragon Ball power up is through the use of fusions, which are always a treat to witness every single time. Here are the best fusions in Dragon Ball that end up striking fear in the hearts of foes every single time.

19 Veku

When Vegeta and Goku mess up the Fusion Dance, then the result is a flawed fusion by the name of Veku, who has little to no power in battle and can only run until the fusion timer runs down.

Aside from comedic purposes, there’s nothing that Veku can really do in a practical situation. In fact, the only reason why Veku even makes this list is that there aren’t really that many proper fusions in Dragon Ball at all.

18 Aka

The OVA Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return!! marks the return of an animated feature in the universe of Dragon Ball after nearly a decade. This OVA featured a bunch of interesting things, including Vegeta’s long-lost brother and the existence of two characters who could fuse as well.

Abo and Kado — rather ingenious names — are the antagonists of this OVA, who don’t really put up much of a fight as separate fighters. However, once they merge into Aka, they become a serious threat that the Z Fighters need to take care of.

17 Old Kai

One thing that most people might not be aware of when it comes to King Kai is the fact that he’s actually the result of a permanent Potara Fusion!

The Old Kai is actually a fusion of a young Elder Kai and an Old Witch, giving the god a boundless amount of knowledge at the expense of a frail body. That being said, the Old Kai is still a god, and can definitely draw on huge reserves if need be.

However, given the fact that the Old Kai hasn’t really had his battle aptitude tested, one can’t really make a definitive statement in this matter.

16 Kibito Kai

Kibito Kai is the result of a rather unfortunate turn of events when Shin and Kibito end up trying the Potara Earrings out in jest. Unfortunately, they end up fusing permanently and stay like this for a while until they finally use the Dragon Balls to undo this fusion.

That being said, Kibito Kai wasn’t exactly torn up about this fusion — he was actually pleased about the increased height of his new body. While his power is mostly a mystery, Kibito Kai certainly wouldn’t have been a slouch in battle.

15 Semi-Perfect Cell

Cell needed to absorb both Android 17 and 18 to reach his perfect form. After succeeding in obtaining the power of the male twin, Cell transforms into a Semi-Perfect form that is pretty imposing in its own right.

It takes a ton of training for Vegeta and Trunks to eclipse this character in terms of raw power. Watching Semi-Perfect Cell get absolutely pounded into the dirt by the Prince of all Saiyans is a blast, although this rush doesn’t last for too long since Vegeta pridefully lets Cell absorb Android 18 to savor a fight with this villain at full strength.

14 Super Android 13

While this fused enemy is only a part of the movies, there’s no denying that Super Android 13 was one of the most powerful foes in Dragon Ball Z. Goku was pushed into such a massive corner that he had to whip out his powerful Spirit Bomb.

It took a combination of Goku’s Super Saiyan form along with the aura of the Spirit Bomb to put Super Android 13 down for good. Without this move, it’s possible that Super Android 13 could’ve defeated all the Z Warriors with ease.

13 Piccolo’s Namekian Fusions

Piccolo is one of the most powerful Z Warriors around, but it was clear to everyone that his power had a pretty notable ceiling. However, he managed to increase his power levels through his numerous Namekian fusions.

The first time he fused was with Nail during the Frieza Saga, giving him access to vast reserves of power. His second fusion came with Kami, who transferred his power over to Piccolo’s body so that he could stand toe-to-toe against the powerful Androids.

12 Perfect Cell

Of course, it would be impossible to mention the Androids without talking about the organic being who was meant to absorb both Android 17 and 18 to attain vast reserves of power. Imperfect Cell seemed like nothing more than a leech, with Semi-Perfect Cell showing the potential of this villain.

However, it was Perfect Cell’s power that dwarfed everyone else’s at the time. Watching this imposing villain make quick work of powerful warriors like Vegeta and Trunks was a statement, declaring that Perfect Cell was going to be a huge pain to deal with.

11 Gotenks

A fusion that became quite relevant during the Buu Saga, it seemed that the show finally devised a purpose for Goten and Trunks when they managed to fuse into the powerful Gotenks in a bid to take down Majin Buu once and for all.

However, Gotenks’ own hubris was the cause of his downfall. He never really took battles seriously and goofed around with the limited time he had as opposed to actually performing something meaningful. It’s no wonder why the reliable duo of Goku and Vegeta took center stage during the finale of this arc.

10 Super Buu’s Absorptions

The Buu Saga is where Toriyama started getting tired of drawing Dragon Ball Z, and it showed in the quality of the final arc. However, that’s not taking anything away from the antagonist of this arc, who was pretty riveting in his own right.

Watching Super Buu absorb numerous powerful warriors was hard to watch. However, this did allow Goku and Vegeta to transform into Vegito and allow for one of the most epic moments in the entire saga.

9 Majuub

After Uub was introduced near the end of Dragon Ball Z, his character is expanded upon quite a bit in Dragon Ball GT. A pivotal moment in the series comes when he decides to fuse with Majin Buu to attain more power.

The resulting fighter is Majuub, who is definitely quite powerful in his own right. However, the threats in Dragon Ball GT keep on escalating and leave this fused being in the dust sooner rather than later.

8 Baby Vegeta

Dragon Ball GT started off on a rather timid note, with Goku’s adventures becoming smaller in scope. However, the Baby arc brought Dragon Ball GT back to its roots as a power fantasy shonen anime.

Watching the parasite Baby take over various characters before finding a home in Vegeta was quite harrowing to witness. Goku had to pull out all the stops in order to defeat this villain and save his friends.

7 Super Android 17

While most people prefer to discard Dragon Ball GT’s existence from the official continuity of Dragon Ball, there’s no denying the fact that some of the characters introduced in the series are definitely quite powerful in their own right.

The best example of this is Super Android 17, a combination of Android 17 and Hell Fighter 17 who ends up being absolutely deadly in combat. His power even puts Goku in a tight spot, and he requires a fair bit of strategy in order to finally get the upper hand over this deadly fused Android.

6 Fused Zamasu

Dragon Ball Super introduced a number of powerful characters capable of fusing, with the merging of Zamasu and Goku Black being one of the more notable fusions in the entire series. However, it also proves to be a fatal error in judgment due to Zamasu’s immortality clashing with Goku Black’s mortal body.

So, when Future Trunks manages to condense the power of the Spirit Bomb into a deadly sword slice that splits Fused Zamasu apart after a frantic and heart-pounding battle, the body of the fused antagonist ends up spasming and expanding grotesquely. This prompts Goku to summon Future Xeno in a bid to eliminate Fused Zamasu once and for all.

5 Kefla

The Tournament of Power featured several powerful fighters from their respective universes… such as the duo of Caulifla and Kale from Universe 6.

The duo was so powerful in their own right, but it’s their fusion that truly put Goku against the ropes. The Saiyan needed to tap into his power of Ultra Instinct in order to turn the tide of battle and eliminate this powerful fused warrior once and for all.

4 Vegeks

The idea of Vegeta fusing with his son is an alluring prospect that many fans would’ve wanted to see transpire in the main timeline. While this hasn’t been the case so far, Dragon Ball Heroes has given this fusion an official debut.

Suffice it to say, both characters are quite powerful and can easily wipe the floor with their enemies. However, until this fighter makes an official appearance in the main Dragon Ball timeline, it’s hard to really pinpoint just how strong he really is.

3 Moro Fusing With Seven-Three

Moro is one of the toughest villains Vegeta and Goku have ever fought, with the planet eater boasting a ton of power early on. However, after being slowly outclassed by Vegeta following his training on Yardrat, Moro realized that he needed to pull out all the stops to stand a chance of succeeding.

This led to him absorbing one of his allies, Seven-Three, in a bid to become as powerful as possible. Moro’s new form is more humanlike and easily wipes the floor with Vegeta, forcing Goku to go into his Perfected Ultra Instinct form to stand a chance against this powerful foe.

2 Gogeta

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is easily one of the most important movies in the history of Dragon Ball, mainly because it makes two popular facets of the series canon once and for all — Broly… and Gogeta.

After Broly taps into the limitless power of a Legendary Super Saiyan, Goku and Vegeta decide to get the upper hand in battle by using the Fusion Dance to become Gogeta. The ensuing battle is a visual spectacle, with Gogeta unleashing numerous powerful moves to best the berserker that is Broly.

1 Vegito

However, while Gogeta is a powerful fighter in his own right, the lore of Dragon Ball has clearly stated the fact that the Potara Earrings allow for a cleaner fusion. By that logic, it’s clear that Vegito edges out his counterpart in terms of sheer potential.

A fight between this fighter and Gogeta would be an absolute treat… but due to the impossibility of this particular situation, one can only look at the individual prowesses of both these fused fighters to compare their power levels.
