Transmutation type of nen users are very versatile in combat and although they lack the physical strength that the Enhancement type of nen users possess, they make up for it with incredible dexterity and versatility. So far, quite a few talented Transmuters have appeared in the story, with some whose skills are held in legendary light.
7 Machi Komacine
Machi is one of the very first members of the Phantom Troupe to be introduced in the story. During the Heaven’s Arena arc, fans got their first look at her nen ability. Being a transmuter, Machi can change the properties of her aura and turn it into strings. These strings can then be used for both offensive and defensive purposes.
At the same time, they also have additional uses such as treating others by stitching their bodies up. It is likely that she possesses a bunch of other abilities that fans haven’t seen just yet. In time, her true strength will finally be revealed.
6 Feitan Portor
Another member of the Phantom Troupe, Feitan is an incredibly skilled user of nen. His skills in combat are tremendous, as seen during the Chimera Ant arc of the story. Feitan took on Zazan, one of the Squadron Leaders of the Chimera Ant army, in battle and fared quite well against her.
His strongest ability, called the Rising Sun, saw him transmute his aura into a giant burning ball that resembled the sun itself, and burned Zazan to death. It goes without saying that he is a very skilled transmuter and will only continue to grow the more he trains and fights.
5 Killua Zoldyck
Killua is one of the most talented nen users in the world of Hunter x Hunter. His skill is known to be immense despite being quite young and, in time, he will most certainly be one of the greatest nen users to ever live. His nen type is Transmutation and he’s quite skilled at transmuting his aura into electricity.
During the Chimera Ant arc, Killua developed an ability known as Godspeed which saw him gain tremendous speed and lightning-fast reflexes. Its strength was such that he was able to keep up with Menthuthuyoupi, one of the Royal Guards of Meruem, for some time, which is quite a feat in itself.
4 Biscuit Krueger
Biscuit Krueger is one of the most skilled nen users alive in the world of Hunter x Hunter right now. She’s trained her nen to a degree where she’s earned the title of a Nen Master. Over the years, she’s demonstrated the use of all the principles of this ability and she also possesses enough mastery over them to be able to teach them to others as well.
Biscuit was mainly seen using Transmutation and Enhancement types of nen abilities during the Greed Island arc. As expected, her skill with both types is known to be quite immaculate. What’s even more surprising is the fact that her true proficiency with either type is yet to be seen.
3 Hisoka Morow
Introduced in the story as an antagonist, Hisoka is an incredibly powerful user of nen. He once served as a member of the Phantom Troupe, however, his allegiance to them was always dubious. When it comes to strength, Hisoka ranks among the very strongest in the Hunter x Hunter world. His control over nen is spectacular, and his Transmutation type nen ability is known as Bungee Gum.

This ability allows him to transmute his aura into a substance that exhibits the properties of both rubber and gum at the same time. While on paper this looks like quite a simple ability, Hisoka’s usage of it is quite amazing and he can kill most of those who stand in his way with it.
2 Silva Zoldyck
Silva Zoldyck is the current head of the Zoldyck Family and is possibly their strongest member right now. Just like his son Killua, Silva is also a Transmutation type of nen user. He can transmute his aura into electricity and deliver powerful blows to his enemies, some of which are strong enough to paralyze and completely burn their bodies.
Silva was strong enough to take on Chrollo Lucilfer during the Yorknew City arc and completely destroyed Cheetu in the Chimera Ant arc of the story. In the past, he’s known to have killed a member of the Phantom Troupe, which just goes to show that he’s extremely skilled in the usage of nen.
1 Zeno Zoldyck
Zeno Zoldyck is Killua’s grandfather and an exceptionally powerful nen user. Just like Silva, he is a Transmutation type of nen user. Despite being quite old and weakened compared to his prime, Zeno is still skilled enough to take on the likes of Chrollo easily in combat.
During the Yorknew City arc, he demonstrated some of his Transmutation nen techniques which saw him change his aura into electricity. Later, in the Chimera Ant arc, fans saw him use more complex Transmutation techniques such as Dragon Dive – something that put fear even into the Chimera Ant Royal Guards.
