These Wordle clones have popped up all over the web. These Wordle sites challenge a player’s knowledge in a variety of ways and topics. These include gaming topics such as Fortnite and Pokemon, history, or even song titles for various media. It’s no surprise that some of these Wordle clones are more popular than others, with a recent study being conducted on this subject.

This study was conducted by ProWritingAid, an app that helps writers with editing using AI and other mechanics. This study had analyzed over 30 Wordle spin-offs that have been created, comparing its average monthly search results on Google. At the very top of the list with an average of 37,200,000 searches is a Wordle clone based on Geography, Worldle. A spokesperson from ProWritingAid commented on this being the top result, with them wondering if players are actively looking for this clone, or if it’s due it being a common typo.
Coming in at second place with a million monthly average search results is the Wordle clone Quordle. This variation is just like the original, except players have to solve four words at the same time, with each guess being placed in four squares. In third place, the clone known as Wordle Unlimited has a monthly average of 673,000 searches. As the title of the clone implies, this allows for unlimited Wordle play, giving players the chance to play for as long as they like to practice their skills.
In fourth place is the math based Nerdle, where players have to guess for the equation of the day. Bottoming out the top five is Heardle, where players have to guess a song based on the first few seconds that they hear. For the clones that cracked the top 10 include the inappropriate variant Lewdle, another Geography based version called Globle, and versions where players play multiple games at once in the form of Octordle and Dordle. The movie-based Wordle clone Framed manages to crack the top 10 as well.
Wordle is free to play on the game’s official website.
